General Sessions

Despite the ever changing world of technology, there are certain standards that remain the same. The concept of a reliable infrastructure lends itself to facilitating the necessary “roads” for transporting voice, video, and data. Please join us as we discuss the importance of network diversity, cloud vs hosted technologies, load balancing, and the exponential growth of bandwidth utilization. Comcast has solutions for any and every business from a 2 person office to corporate centers hosting thousands of employees. Take a walk with us through these hot topics and learn how to employ them to create success within your organizations.

Project Online and Project Server 2013 provide significant enhancements for business process management, workflow authoring and managing work requests. This session will provide the powerful new project collaboration capabilities and the key scenarios and features that enable you to effectively plan, track and share your plans so everybody is on the same page and the project is delivered on time and within budget.

Access and Share from Anywhere with Office

A challenge faced by all organizations is seamless sharing of information. Email has long been the bastion of document sharing; helping to keep everyone up-to-date with process and project documentation. But in a world of mobile employees leveraginga variety of devices with the increased demands of security and being productive anywhere, many organizations find email as a document collaboration tool falls flat. Join us as we demonstrate how SharePoint 2013 can facilitate better document sharing and control through the use of the new Office, Office on Demand, and Office Web Apps.
One of the much improved features of SharePoint 2013 is the workflow engine. SharePoint 2013 now uses “Windows Azure Workflows” and it runs workflows as a separate service to SharePoint itself, making it easy to host workflows on-premise or externally (much the same way as the new “Apps” model works). Attend this session and learn how the new workflow engine can easily and quickly be built to support business needs that span from basic out-of-the-box document (OOTB) routing for approvals or signatures to complex business scenarios that involve policies, rules, escalations and exception handling. During this session, you will learn why these changes provide an innovative platform for managing team processes, or how it can be built to span the largest enterprises and process volumes.

Going Mobile Communcate and Collaborate While on the Go!

Microsoft has developed a very powerful, easy-to-use mobile platform that will allow you to communicate and collaborate with anyone, anytime, anywhere on any device. In this session, real world examples show how the mobility enhancements in SharePoint 2013 make it easier than ever before to provide robust, mobile-enabled views of SharePoint websites to any mobile device. During the demos in this session, multiple devices including phones, tablets and laptops will be used to show the website rendering specifically for each device. Whether on-premise or "in the cloud", Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and Office increase your smartphone and tablet users' productivity without compromise. Windows Phone, IOS and Android device integration also will be covered.

IT Professional / Developer

As organizations move to externally hosted solutions, developers will increasingly be called upon to make legacy applications compatible with cloud-based services. In this session, we will explore the various options available for creating SharePoint applications in the cloud, discuss the pros and cons of each approach, delve into the technical aspects of cloud development, and provide real-world guidance for creating an on-premise-to-cloud migration strategy.

In this session you will learn how end-users are enabled to create high-value, "no code", collaborative business apps that can be shared with others as an app for SharePoint in a web browser. You will see how Office 365 and SQL Azure services provide an efficient method to quickly deploy an Access app to the cloud. By using Microsoft SharePoint 2013 to host the front end of the app and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 as its data storage technology, Access 2013 significantly improves the manageability and scalability of Access applications. You will also learn how legacy Access applications can be brought forward to the web on SharePoint.

Enterprise search had a serious makeover in 2013. It combines the best of SharePoint 2010 Search and FAST. Search administration is now configurable at the site collection level with new result sources, query rules, and result types. Search centers now use JavaScript and JSON based web parts for refinement and results. Each result item displays based on rule syntax including the new document preview hover panels. Developers can access search results with SOM, CSOM, and REST. This talk will show you how to build effective search solutions that combine all the new features.

Developing SharePoint Applications Using JQuery and SharePoint 2013

In this session we’ll deep dive on how to use jQuery to build dynamic, search-drivenweb sites. We’ll show you how to create interactive experiences for your onlineusers and provide attendees with best practices for using JQuery with SharePoint.
The session will cover the following:

1) Basic understanding of JQuery
2) How to setup JQuery
3) Development you can do with JQuery in SharePoint
